New Delhi, Sep 18 (IANS) Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra on Friday expressed confidence in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad emerging victorious in all four central panel seats in the ongoing DUSU elections.
Visiting Vivekananda College in Shahdara district, Malhotra said that the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) is a student organisation that is rooted in nationalist ideology and dedicated entirely to student welfare, adding that their philosophy is ‘Nation First.’
“The belief that everything must be done in service of the nation — and ABVP operates upon this core conviction. Today, as the DUSU elections take place, Vidyarthi Parishad holds significant influence across Delhi. I firmly believe that this time as well, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad will emerge victorious on all four central panel seats,” he said.
Earlier, DUSU’s current President Aryan Maan also expressed confidence that the ABVP would win all four key posts.
Voting for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections began on Friday amid tight security under the Delhi Police, with North District Police and outside forces deployed, ensuring smooth traffic and compliance with rules.
The high-stakes student union elections are primarily a contest between the RSS student wing and the Congress’s National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). The results are scheduled to be declared on Saturday.
ABVP’s Yash Dabas is contesting against NSUI’s Vijay Shankar Meena for the post of DUSU President. A total of 25 candidates are in the fray for the post.
A total of 20 candidates are in the fray for the Vice President’s post, 24 for Secretary, and 19 for Joint Secretary.
The DUSU 2026 elections have emerged as a significant turn amid ongoing student concerns over examination irregularities and accommodation facilities, with the July Gen Z protest held at Jantar Mantar over alleged examination irregularities taking precedence, and the recent collapse of a PG building in Satya Niketan in south Delhi highlighting concerns over the availability and safety of student accommodation in the national capital.
