‘After Ayodhya, now Ujjain…no one spared’: INDIA bloc criticises CM Mohan Yadav over land deals

New Delhi, June 24 (IANS) Leaders of the INDIA bloc, particularly the Congress and the RJD, on Wednesday lashed out at Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav after members of his family were allegedly linked to land purchases in Ujjain.

Talking to IANS, RJD MP Manoj Jha said: “The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, whose selection was done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, has been accused of such fraud and irregularities.”

Referring to the alleged donation theft at Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir, he said: “After Ayodhya, now Ujjain, meaning after Lord Ram, now Lord Shiva, no one has been spared.”

Targeting the BJP-led Centre, Jha added: “They (BJP) will blame the system. Not the person, but it is the system that will be discussed, just like what happened in NEET (paper leak row). Resignations do not happen because there is no accountability.”

Reacting to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s allegation that the BJP has “hatched a conspiracy to defame” CM Mohan Yadav, he said: “Some people are pointing to an internal rift.”

Addressing reporters on Tuesday, Akhilesh Yadav claimed that allegations are now being made because the “BJP is finding ways to remove three Chief Ministers”, that of MP, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

Responding to the same, Congress President Jitu Patwari said: “If he (Akhilesh) has said something, he must have received some information or message based on which he made that statement. However, saying that it is a conspiracy, I think, would be wrong.”

“Akhilesh Yadav is already aware of the entire corruption issue, so in my view, corruption is the main issue here,” he added.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Pawan Khera asserted that the party’s local leaders have been continuously raising the allegations against CM Yadav.

“Even before becoming Chief Minister, when he was Education Minister or Chairman of the Tourism Board, and even after becoming Chief Minister, hundreds of acres of land have been acquired, especially in areas where new highways, infrastructure projects, or events like the ‘Simhastha Mahakumbh’ are planned. Land has been allotted to his family or companies linked to his family,” he told IANS.

However, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo refuted the allegations.

Speaking to IANS, he said: “I believe Mohan Yadav has already responded in this matter, that such allegations are completely baseless. He and his family have been involved in this business for a long time. The Opposition, which is currently in a state of frustration and disappointment, is making unfounded allegations. If they genuinely have any doubts or evidence, they should file a formal complaint, and the truth will come out.”

“Though those who are close to the MP CM know that no misdeed has taken place, everything has been done legally,” he added.

The BJP leader further said, “Actually, the Congress party is frustrated with repeated setbacks from every state, that is why they are making baseless allegations.”
