The Australia India Business Council (AIBC) took part in a key industry and government reception in New South Wales, focusing on strengthening trade and investment collaboration between Australia and India. The event was hosted by NSW Deputy Premier Prue Car MP on behalf of the NSW Premier, alongside Minister for Industry and Trade Anoulack Chanthivong MP. Discussions highlighted key sectors such as renewable energy, housing, and local manufacturing, which align with Australia-India bilateral priorities and present new opportunities for trade and investment.
Leading the AIBC delegation were National Chair Deepak-Raj Gupta OAM and NSW President Irfan Malik (MAICD), who engaged with senior government officials, including Investment NSW Deputy Secretary Rebecca McPhee, Executive Director of Trade Karla Lampe, and DFAT NSW State Office Director Crispin Conroy AM. India’s Consul General in Sydney, Dr. Janakiraman Sarvesvaran, also participated, reinforcing India’s commitment to deepening economic ties with Australia.
AIBC leaders also met with Warren Kirby MP, Co-Chair of the NSW Parliamentary Friends of India, at NSW Parliament House. Kirby shared insights from his recent visit to India, outlining strategic areas for business growth and cooperation.
The event underscored the importance of regional business councils and trade offices in driving commercial success and fostering stronger economic engagement between Australia and India. AIBC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting business and government efforts in advancing trade, innovation, and investment in key industries.
