Anzac Day commemorated in New Delhi, Australian personnel honoured

NEW DELHIi, APRIL 25/ INDIAN ABROAD NEWSDESK

The Australian High Commission in India observed Anzac Day with a solemn Dawn Service followed by a traditional Gunfire Breakfast, bringing together members of the Australian community and guests in the national capital.

The ceremony, held to honour the service and sacrifice of Australian and New Zealand forces, was followed by a community gathering where attendees shared a simple meal and reflected on the significance of the day.

Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, presented honours to distinguished personnel during the event. Army attaché Lt Col Fiona Bruce was awarded the Defence Long Service Medal in recognition of her dedicated service.

Capt RG Upton was also conferred the National Emergency Medal (with Clasp) for his contribution during Australia’s 2019–20 bushfire crisis.

The event highlighted the continuation of Anzac Day traditions overseas, while reinforcing a shared respect for service and strengthening community connections among Australians living in India.
