CANBERRA, OCTOBER 19/INDIAN ABROAD NEWSDESK

Australia and India have explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation between India and Tasmania during a luncheon hosted in honour of India’s High Commissioner to Australia, Nagesh Singh, and his wife, Pragya Singh, during their first visit to the island state.

The luncheon was hosted by India’s Honorary Consul in Tasmania, Dr Navpreet Kaur, and attended by Consul General of India in Melbourne, Anish Rajan, along with other distinguished guests.

According to the High Commission of India in Canberra, the gathering brought together representatives from government, Parliament, the defence sector, local government and key industries to discuss shared priorities, complementary strengths and emerging opportunities for closer India-Tasmania engagement.

Among those attending were Craig Farrell MLC, president of the Tasmanian Legislative Council, and Madeleine Ogilvie MP, Member for Clark, along with other representatives.

The interaction provided an opportunity to exchange views on areas of mutual interest and explore possibilities for building partnerships that could benefit both India and Tasmania.

The visit also highlighted the importance of strengthening engagement with Australian states and territories as part of the broader Australia-India relationship.

The High Commission shared details of the luncheon through its official social media account, describing the gathering as an opportunity to advance India-Tasmania cooperation and develop mutually beneficial partnerships.
