India’s High Commissioner to Australia, Nagesh Singh, met Australian Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen to discuss expanding cooperation in clean energy, climate action, renewable technologies and sustainable development, according to the High Commission of India in Canberra.
The High Commission of India said the meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in areas including renewable energy, clean technologies and sustainable growth as both countries continue to deepen their strategic partnership.
According to the Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, Australia is accelerating its transition to cleaner sources of energy while expanding international partnerships to support decarbonisation, energy security and climate resilience. India and Australia have identified clean energy as a key pillar of their broader bilateral relationship.
The discussions also reflected growing cooperation under the India–Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which has expanded collaboration in renewable energy, green hydrogen, critical minerals and climate-related technologies. According to the High Commission of India, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working together for a greener, more resilient and sustainable future.
Australia and India have increased cooperation on clean energy through initiatives covering renewable power, low-emissions technologies and critical minerals, while both countries continue to work with industry and research institutions to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy, according to official government information.
