The Australia India Institute organised a lecture featuring Ven. Geshe Lhakdor, Director of the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, during his visit to Australia.
Delivering a talk titled “Wisdom and Compassion in a Changing World: Australia, India and Tibet,” Geshe Lhakdor reflected on Tibetan intellectual traditions, the need for cultural preservation and the continuing relevance of compassion in modern society.
The event, held in collaboration with the Tibetan Library Project (ALTWA), brought together academics, community members and those interested in cross-cultural exchange.
Speakers emphasised the importance of institutions dedicated to preserving Tibetan language, manuscripts and knowledge systems, highlighting their global significance.
The programme concluded with closing remarks from the Institute’s leadership, noting the value of such engagements in strengthening cultural and academic links between Australia, India and Tibet.
