The Basava Samiti of Asia Pacific – Perth Chapter organised Basava Jayanthi celebrations on May 9 with large participation from the community, highlighting the teachings and legacy of social reformer Basavanna.
The event was attended by Poojya Dr Shraddanand Swamiji, who addressed the gathering and spoke on Basavanna’s philosophy and values.
Among the dignitaries present were Consul Naresh Kumar, Dr Jags MLA Riverton, Dr K.B. Nagur and V.S. Teli. Representatives and presidents of ISWA, WAKS and VTCS also attended the programme.
The celebration brought together families, elders, youth and children from the community. The programme included devotional activities, cultural performances, speeches and community interaction focused on Basavanna’s principles of Kayaka and Dasoha.
Organisers said the event reflected unity, harmony and cultural pride within the Indian community in Perth and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
The Basava Samiti thanked volunteers, sponsors, performers and attendees for supporting the celebration and acknowledged the contribution of community members who organised Dasoha during the event.
