Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen has highlighted the expanding clean energy partnership between Australia and India, saying cooperation in renewable energy, critical minerals, green hydrogen and clean technology is creating new opportunities for innovation, investment and economic growth. His message was released as the Australia India Business Council (AIBC) marked its 40th anniversary, according to the organisation.
According to the Australia India Business Council, Bowen congratulated the organisation on four decades of strengthening economic ties between Australia and India and acknowledged its role in connecting businesses, encouraging investment and supporting closer bilateral cooperation.
The minister said the India–Australia Renewable Energy Partnership is opening new opportunities for both countries to collaborate on clean energy technologies, strengthen supply chains and exchange expertise in areas including solar energy, batteries and green hydrogen. He said the partnership would support the energy transition while creating jobs and long-term prosperity for both nations, according to the Australia India Business Council.
Bowen also noted that Australia and India are working more closely than ever to build resilient clean energy supply chains and deepen cooperation in renewable energy. According to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, both countries are pursuing closer collaboration as they work towards their respective net-zero goals and expand investment in clean energy industries.
The Australia India Business Council said Bowen’s message reflected the growing importance of the Australia–India relationship and the role of collaboration in driving innovation, investment and shared prosperity. The organisation thanked the minister for supporting its 40th anniversary celebrations and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening business and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Founded in 1986, the Australia India Business Council has played a leading role in promoting trade, investment and commercial engagement between Australia and India. According to the organisation, its 40th anniversary programme celebrates four decades of partnership while highlighting new opportunities for cooperation across business, technology, education and the clean energy sector.
