The Hindu Council of Australia hosted lively Dussehra and Diwali celebrations at Rocklea Showgrounds, attended by Consul General Neetu Bhagotia. The event brought together a large gathering of the Indian community and friends of India, alongside dignitaries including Senator Paul Scarr, Margie Nightingale MP, Julie-Ann Campbell MP representing the Prime Minister’s Office, and local area councillors.
Consul General Bhagotia and the dignitaries extended warm greetings, emphasising the importance of multiculturalism in Australia and recognising the valuable contributions of the Indian diaspora to Queensland’s growth and development.
The celebration featured a rich array of cultural performances by local artists, showcasing traditional dances and music from various Indian states. The festivities concluded with the symbolic burning of a large effigy, representing the triumph of good over evil, leaving participants with a sense of unity, joy, and cultural pride.
