Brisbane Consulate celebrates 77th Republic Day with patriotic fervour

Brisbane, January 26 (Indian Abroad Newsdesk)

The Consulate General of India in Brisbane marked the 77th Republic Day of India with great enthusiasm, bringing together members of the Indian community and friends of India for a solemn yet celebratory occasion.

The programme commenced with the unfurling of the Indian Tricolour, followed by the reading of the  President of India’s address to the nation, underscoring the constitutional values and democratic ethos of the Republic. The ceremony reflected a deep sense of pride and respect for India’s journey as a sovereign, democratic nation.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the Indian diaspora in Queensland, representing a cross-section of regions, cultures and professions. Friends of India from the wider Australian community also joined the celebrations, highlighting the strong people-to-people ties between the two countries.

A special highlight of the celebration was a soulful rendition of Vande Mataram, organised to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the iconic national song. The performance resonated strongly with those present, evoking memories of India’s freedom struggle and reinforcing the message of unity and patriotism.

The Republic Day celebrations concluded on a warm and reflective note, reaffirming the commitment of the Indian community in Australia to uphold India’s democratic ideals while contributing meaningfully to Australia’s multicultural society.
