Brisbane hosts Indian film festival

BRISBANE, July 6/INDIAN ABROAD NEWSDESK

The Consulate General of India in Brisbane inaugurated the second edition of the National Indian Film Festival of Australia (NIIFA), opening the event with a screening of Boong, winner of the BAFTA Award for Best Children’s and Family Film.

According to the Consulate General, the festival celebrates the richness and diversity of Indian cinema while promoting cultural exchange and strengthening people-to-people ties between Australia and India.

The opening screening showcased Indian storytelling to Australian audiences and highlighted cinema’s role in fostering greater cultural understanding between the two countries.

The Consulate General said the festival is part of ongoing efforts to deepen cultural engagement and strengthen Australia–India relations through the arts.
