The Consulate General of India in Brisbane organised a painting competition on April 9, 2026, to commemorate the 77th Foundation Day of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
The competition was centred on the theme “Cultural Heritage and Touristic Destinations of India,” with participants showcasing their creativity by depicting India’s rich traditions, iconic landmarks, and diverse cultural landscapes through their artwork.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with artists capturing various aspects of India’s heritage in visually engaging ways. The initiative aimed to encourage artistic expression while promoting awareness about India’s cultural diversity.
Alongside the competition, an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) workshop was also conducted. The session emphasised the importance of protecting Indian art and heritage, while also raising awareness about artists’ rights in an increasingly digital and global environment.
The programme combined cultural celebration with educational outreach, reinforcing the role of art in fostering cultural understanding and safeguarding creative expression.
