Raipur, April 29 (IANS) Significant administrative and public interest decisions were finalised during a cabinet meeting held in Raipur under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.
These developments are set to reshape urban infrastructure, bolster the sports landscape, and provide much-needed financial relief to thousands of citizens across the state.
A cornerstone of the meeting was the approval of the Chhattisgarh Urban Gas Distribution Policy 2026. This new framework aims to accelerate the deployment of natural gas pipelines throughout urban centres.
Government officials highlighted that transitioning to piped natural gas will offer residents a cheaper and more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional liquefied petroleum gas.
Beyond the immediate benefits for households, the expansion of the pipeline network is expected to stimulate local economies by attracting industrial investment and creating new employment opportunities in the energy sector.
In a push to enhance sports facilities, the cabinet approved the allotment of five acres of land to the Rajnandgaon District Cricket Association at a concessional rate.
This land, currently under the Suryamukhi Devi Rajgami Estate, will be transformed into a modern sports ground and cricket academy.
The initiative is designed to provide aspiring athletes in the region with professional training resources and high-quality infrastructure.
Furthermore, the government demonstrated its commitment to social welfare by approving nearly twelve crore rupees in financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund.
This sum will be distributed among six thousand eight hundred and nine individuals and organisations to help those facing medical emergencies, social hardship, or critical life circumstances, ensuring that state support reaches the most vulnerable populations promptly.
The meeting also addressed long-standing administrative issues by revoking a controversial 2019 demotion order involving three senior Indian Police Service officers from the 1988 batch.
The cabinet officially withdrew the orders against Sanjay Pillay, RK Vij, and Mukesh Gupta after a comprehensive review of the case facts.
By nullifying the previous decisions, the government has restored the original status of these officers.
This move is seen as an effort to stabilise the state administrative framework and rectify past procedural grievances.
