Commonwealth Day celebrated at Queensland Parliamentary Annexe

Brisbane, March 10 (Indian Abroad Newsdesk)

Commonwealth Day 2026 was marked on March 9 at the Queensland Parliamentary Annexe with a ceremony highlighting the shared values and cultural diversity of the Commonwealth community.

The event featured participation from Year 10 students of Loreto College Coorparoo, who served as flag bearers and ushers during the programme. The students assisted dignitaries and participants, including members of the Australian Defence Force and representatives connected with Commonwealth activities.

This year’s celebration centred on the theme “Unlocking opportunities together for a prosperous Commonwealth,” emphasising cooperation, unity, and the importance of building strong and connected communities among member nations.

Organised with the involvement of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), the ceremony reflected the enduring partnership among Commonwealth countries.

Commonwealth Day is observed across the organisation’s 56 member states, celebrating shared democratic values, friendship, and collaboration.
