Consul General of India in Melbourne, Anish Rajan, attended the Youth Festival and India’s National Youth Day celebrations organised by the Vivekananda Society of Australia (VSA), underscoring the important role of youth-led and community organisations in promoting Indian culture in Australia.
Addressing the gathering, the Consul General appreciated the efforts of VSA in keeping alive the teachings and ideals of Swami Vivekananda among the Indian diaspora and the wider Australian community. He thanked Yogesh Bhatt, founder and president of the VSA, along with members, supporters, and volunteers of the organisation for their dedication and exemplary work.
Rajan noted that organisations such as VSA play a vital role in strengthening cultural ties and fostering a sense of identity among younger generations. He commended the society’s sustained initiatives to promote Indian philosophy, heritage, and cultural traditions in Melbourne through festivals, educational programmes, and youth-focused activities.
The National Youth Day celebrations, observed annually to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, brought together community members and youth participants in a spirit of learning, cultural pride, and service.
