Consul General visits Bunbury, engages with Indian community

PERTH, SEPTEMBER 15/INDIAN ABROAD NEWSDESK

The Consul General of India in Perth, Kajari Biswas, undertook an official visit to Bunbury from August 28 to 30, 2026, engaging with members of the Indian community, local leaders and key stakeholders, according to the Consulate General of India, Perth.

During the visit, SWIG Bunbury organised a Sufi Sangeet and Qawwali evening celebrating the rich diversity of Indian culture. Bunbury Deputy Mayor Cheryl Kozisek also joined the celebrations.

The Consular team participated in an Open House and Q&A session organised for the first time in Bunbury. The session provided members of the Indian community an opportunity to interact directly with the Consulate team and discuss consular matters, including issues related to Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI), passports and Police Clearance Certificates (PCC), among other matters.

The Consul General also met Bunbury Mayor Jayson Miguel, former Multicultural Minister and Mayor John Castrilli, David Myles, Vice President of the South West Industry and Community Association (SIMCOA), and representatives of the Indian community.

The Consulate expressed its appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by Cr Dr Ramesh Parthasarathy, president of SWIG Bunbury, for his leadership and hard work, as well as the City of Bunbury, and all community organisations and members who contributed to the successful visit.
