Consulate organizes welcome reception to assist new students from India

Melbourne, May 2 (Indian Abroad Newsdesk)

To assist the new students from India, Consulate General in association with Study Melbourne organised a welcome reception on May 1, at Victoria Investment Centre.

Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar, and Acting Director of Study Melbourne Caroline Hartnett, addressed the students.

Officers from police, life saving and water safety, and fire rescue of Victoria gave presentations to make students aware of their safety and security.

Information on consular and emergency services was provided and students were requested to register with the Consulate. While student ambassadors shared their experiences, the event provided an excellent networking opportunity for new students.

Educational cooperation is an important area in India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with Victoria having the largest number of Indian students in Australia.  Indian students continue to excel in academics with Divyangana Sharma and Sarbjeet Singh receiving the Victorian Premier’s Award of International Student of the Year in consecutive years of 2022 and 2023.
