New Delhi, July 21 (IANS) Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra on Tuesday condemned Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal for calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “terrorist” and demanded that he publicly apologise.
This statement is not only unparliamentary but also a direct insult to the self-respect of 1.4 billion Indians, said Malhotra.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the country has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. Surgical strikes, air strikes, and decisive action against terror infrastructure have been carried out. Today, the entire world sees India as one of the strongest voices against terrorism, he said.
Malhotra said that a person like Kejriwal, against whom serious allegations of links with terrorist organisations and separatist elements have been made publicly, has no moral standing to use such language against the Prime Minister of the country.
His remarks reflect his political frustration, moral decline, and desperation over the loss of power in Delhi, said Malhotra.
“The people of Delhi gave Kejriwal 10 years. What did they get in return? Corruption, the liquor scam, and now insults directed at the Prime Minister. When Kejriwal has no answers on issues of development, he resorts to such derogatory language,” he said.
The BJP demands that Kejriwal immediately issue a public apology to the country and to Prime Minister Modi. Otherwise, the people of Delhi and BJP workers will strongly oppose such remarks through democratic means.
The country stands firmly with Prime Minister Modi. The fight against terrorism will only grow stronger, he said.
Earlier in the day, the Delhi BJP President paid tributes on the 7th death anniversary of former Delhi BJP President Mange Ram Garg at a programme organised at the Delhi BJP office, as well as at another programme held in Ashok Vihar.
Malhotra garlanded the portrait of Mange Ram Garg in the presence of several office-bearers and party workers. Delhi BJP General Secretary Vishnu Mittal and Yogita Singh, along with several other workers, also offered floral tributes.
On the occasion, Malhotra said that Mange Ram Garg was a symbol of organisational skills. He rose from a grassroots worker to State President, and this remains his greatest identity.
