New Delhi, Aug 13 (IANS) On the death anniversary of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar, Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra and BJP OBC Morcha President Santosh Pal paid tributes to her at the party’s city unit office on Thursday.
Malhotra addressed the gathering and said, “On the death anniversary of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, I pay my respects to her.”
“She was not just a ruler; she was a living example of public service,” he said.
Malhotra said that “Rajdharma was her religion and service was her worship.”
He said the golden chapter of good governance written by her from the holy land of Malwa continues to inspire the government even today.
He said from Kashi Vishwanath to Somnath, she restored temples in every corner of India. She built roads, wells, rest houses and granaries by implementing the ideology that a ruler’s wealth serves best when spent on the public, he said.
Without discrimination, without corruption, for 30 years, she set an example with her model of good governance, he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also repeatedly remembers Ahilyabai’s ideals of good governance and “Nari Shakti”, he said.
Malhotra said today the Delhi BJP family resolves that we will build a developed India by following Ahilyabai’s values of “service, good governance and culture”.
Others present on the occasion included state office bearers Vishnu Mittal, Yogita Singh, Mohanlal Gihara, Satish Garg, Praveen Shankar Kapoor, Rajesh Bhatia, Sunil Yadav, Vikram Bidhuri, Ranjit Kashyap, Richa Pandey, Abhishek Tandon, Ramkhiladi Yadav, Shubhendu Shekhar Awasthi, Kailash Jain, Yasir Jilani, Nitin Tyagi, Suman Saini, Ramnaresh Pal, Vishal Prajapati, Mohit Nagar and Amar Baghel.
In another development, the Delhi BJP continued its campaign of honouring families of martyrs, with former city unit president Virender Sachdeva calling on the family members of Captain Sameer Bhan of 11th Battalion, Jat Regiment, at Vasundhara Enclave, a party leader said.
He paid respects and hoisted the tricolour at the martyr’s residence under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
Sachdeva paid tributes to the sacrifice, bravery and patriotism of the martyred family and said, “Our freedom is the precious heritage of martyrs, which the brave soldiers of the country are keeping safe even today with their bravery.”
He said the BJP family always stands with the martyrs and their families, following the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
