New Delhi, Aug 21 (IANS) Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) T.S. Sandhu on Friday reviewed the progress on reforms to reduce compliance load on common citizens and enhance ease of living through deregulation.
The meeting came a day after he discussed the city’s security and community-led safety campaigns with the Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar.
On Friday, Sandhu on social media platform X said, “Reviewed the progress of Deregulation & Compliance Reduction in Delhi today, with the ease of the common citizen at the heart of this exercise.”
“Directed all departments to complete the exercise swiftly and efficiently, ensuring every reform delivers real, everyday ease of living for the people of Delhi — less red tape, faster approvals, and a system that works for them,” the L-G added.
“Guided by PM @narendramodiJi’s vision of Ease of Doing Business and Ease of Living, we need to build a #ViksitDilli that puts people first,” Sandhu said.
In his meeting with Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar on Thursday, the L-G evaluated specialised community policing initiatives, public welfare platforms, and targeted safety measures being implemented across the National Capital Territory, an official said.
The meeting focused on strengthening institutional support for vulnerable demographics, with particular emphasis on senior citizens and women commuters, the statement said.
During the meeting, the Delhi L-G reviewed the functioning, adoption, and operational efficacy of the Delhi Police’s dedicated senior citizen mobile application.
Taking stock of regular outreach, registrations, and beat-level police interface with elderly residents, the L-G underlined the need to ensure prompt grievance redressal, robust emergency assistance, and sustained periodic visits by local police personnel to guarantee the safety, well-being, and confidence of senior citizens across Delhi.
L-G Sandhu directed a thorough reassessment of the number of senior citizens and the mobile application to be expanded accordingly.
The review also examined the performance and ground-level deployment of the specialised ‘Shishtachar Squads’ tasked with curbing eve-teasing, preventing street harassment, and enforcing public order around educational institutions, transit hubs, and crowded marketplaces.
