Dialogue in Delhi reflects on two decades of Australia–India relations

Melbourne, March 6 (Indian Abroad Newsdesk)

The Australia India Institute recently hosted a special discussion titled “Two Decades of Australia–India Relations: Insights from High Commissioners Past and Present” at the University of Melbourne Global Centre in Delhi, bringing together senior diplomatic voices to reflect on the evolution of bilateral ties.

The panel was moderated by Australia India Institute’s CEO Lisa Singh and featured Australian High Commissioner to India Philip Green, along with former High Commissioners Patrick Suckling and John McCarthy. The discussion explored the growth of the Australia–India partnership across key areas including security cooperation, education, and economic engagement.

Indian National Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor also attended the event and addressed the audience, highlighting the strengthening relationship between the two countries and the importance of sustained diplomatic efforts.

Panellists shared insights into how bilateral ties have evolved since 2004, noting that the relationship today is characterised by a high level of trust and collaboration, built through consistent engagement and commitment from both nations.
