The Consulate General of India celebrated Diwali in grand style, recently, hosting a festive reception at Thornbury Theatre that brought together guests from diverse backgrounds. Among the attendees were notable figures, including Bill Shorten, Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Natalie Hutchins, Minister for Treaty and First Peoples, and John Pesutto, Leader of the Opposition in Victoria, alongside parliamentarians, CEOs, community leaders, and members of the Indian diaspora.
The evening featured vibrant performances, including a captivating Rajasthani folk dance led by Rashid Khan, organized by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. Local Indian diaspora talent also entertained the audience, creating a lively and celebratory atmosphere. Dheepa Awtani served as the master of ceremonies, guiding the event with grace.
