Bhopal, July 25 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday said that cases related to examination paper leaks and other malpractices would be resolved within three months through four fast-track courts to be set up in the state, asserting that the government would not allow the future of students to be jeopardised by delays in the justice delivery system.
Addressing media persons at the Central Hall of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Yadav said the state government was committed to protecting the interests of students and teachers and would continue to strengthen the education sector.
“There is a need for speedy judicial resolution of matters concerning the youth. Four fast-track courts will be established in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior. Cases related to paper leaks and examinations will be decided within three months,” he said.
Referring to the NEET paper leak controversy, the Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi acted immediately after reports of irregularities surfaced by ordering a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe. He said the state government would also put in place standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure transparent and fair conduct of future examinations.
“The state government stands with students with full sensitivity. We will take every necessary step to protect their interests and ensure transparency in examinations,” Yadav said. He also said Madhya Pradesh was the first state to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and had set up three new government universities during the last two-and-a-half years.
The Chief Minister’s statement came a day after the Madhya Pradesh High Court designated four special fast-track courts to try cases related to examination paper leaks and other irregularities under the Lok Pariksha (Anuchit Sadhano Ka Nivaran) Adhiniyam, 2024.
In an order issued on Friday night, acting Chief Justice Vivek Rusia designated district and additional sessions courts in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior as special courts for such cases.
The High Court directed that trials be completed within three months from the filing of charge sheets. The move follows the Centre’s decision to provide for fast-track courts to deal with examination-related offences in the wake of the NEET-UG paper leak controversy.
