Canberra, March 8 (Indian Abroad Newsdesk)
The Federation of Indian Associations of ACT Inc. (FINACT), supported by the High Commission of India, Canberra, organised a special event in Canberra to mark International Women’s Day 2026 under the theme “Unity and Strength.”
During the programme, a new initiative titled “AEKTA” was unveiled, aimed at bringing women together and strengthening support networks within the community. The initiative seeks to encourage collaboration, empowerment, and engagement among women from diverse backgrounds.
The event was attended by representatives from the High Commission, Suzanne Orr of the ACT Government, and women from the Indian community across Canberra. A range of activities, including stalls, exhibitions, skits, and interactive ice-breaking sessions, encouraged active participation and created a lively and inclusive atmosphere.
Organisers said the celebration highlighted the importance of unity, community engagement, and collective strength in promoting the role and contributions of women in society.
