The first Pacific Regional Hindi Conference was organised in Brisbane on January 16. The Conference was organised by the High Commission of India, Canberra in collaboration with the Consulate General of India, Brisbane, marking an important step in promoting the Hindi language in the Pacific region.
The Secretary (South) of Ministry of External Affairs of India, Dr Neena Malhotra, and the High Commissioner of India, Gopal Baglay, attended the conference, underscoring the importance accorded to the preservation and global promotion of Hindi. The programme featured four panel discussions that focused on key issues related to the preservation, promotion and international dissemination of the Hindi language.
Scholars, academics and community representatives from Australia, Fiji and New Zealand took part in the deliberations, bringing diverse perspectives and experiences to the discussions. Their participation highlighted the growing interest in strengthening Hindi beyond India’s borders.
The conference emerged as a significant initiative aimed at reinforcing the role of Hindi on the global stage and fostering greater collaboration among Hindi scholars and institutions across the Pacific region.
