The Consul General of India, Perth, Kajari Biswas, attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Perdaman’s Project Helios – Phase 1 in Karratha on March 4, marking the start of a 30MW solar farm development in Western Australia. Project Helios is planned as a 30MW solar farm that will be co-located at Site ‘F’ within the Burrup Strategic Industrial Area. In addition, solar installations will also be placed across the rooftops of the Project Ceres buildings and urea sheds.
According to Perdaman, onsite construction for the project is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2026. The company estimates that the development will be completed within 12 months of the start of construction.
The project forms part of Perdaman’s broader industrial development initiatives in the Pilbara region and is expected to contribute to the use of renewable energy within the Burrup Strategic Industrial Area.
