High Commissioner Gopal Baglay visited the City of Greater Bendigo on July 22, 2024, for his first visit to the region. During his trip, he held productive discussions with Jacinta Allan, Premier of Victoria, focusing on expanding cooperation in education, trade, and tourism.
The High Commissioner was welcomed by Cr Andrea Metcalf, Mayor, and Andrew Cooney, CEO of the City of Greater Bendigo. The visit included a scenic Bendigo Tram ride and a Civic Reception at the Bendigo Art Gallery. He also interacted with members of the vibrant Indian diaspora in the area.
Additionally, Baglay met with Prof Theo Farrel, Vice Chancellor of La Trobe University, Bendigo, to discuss opportunities for strengthening educational partnerships. The visit was facilitated by the City of Greater Bendigo and the Indian Association of Bendigo Inc.
