High Commissioner discusses skills cooperation with Australian education leaders

CANBERRA, AUGUST 18/INDIAN ABROAD NEWSDESK

High Commissioner of India to Australia Nagesh Singh met Laura Macpherson, CEO of Bendigo TAFE; Sharan Burrow AC, Board Chair of the Bendigo Kangan Institute; and Mamta Chauhan, Executive Director of VETASSESS, to discuss opportunities to strengthen Australia–India cooperation in skills and vocational education.

The discussions covered several areas of mutual interest, including the India Automobile Centre of Excellence in Gandhinagar, trainer capacity building and the mobility of skilled professionals.

The meeting highlighted the potential for greater collaboration between Indian and Australian institutions in vocational education and skills development. Particular attention was given to strengthening training capabilities and creating opportunities for skilled professionals to gain experience and pursue mobility between the two countries.

The engagement also reflected the broader scope for cooperation in skills development as Australia and India work to strengthen links between education, training and workforce requirements.

Singh’s meeting with representatives of Bendigo TAFE, Bendigo Kangan Institute and VETASSESS underlined the importance of institutional partnerships in advancing skills and vocational education cooperation between Australia and India.
