High Commissioner of India to Australia Nagesh Singh visited Port Kembla with Alison Byrnes MP, Federal Member for Cunningham; Peter Ernst, Head of Regional Ports at the Port Authority of NSW; and Capt. Sharad Bhasin, Harbour Master at Port Kembla.
The visit highlighted the strategic importance of Port Kembla and the opportunities it presents for strengthening cooperation between Australia and India in key areas including trade, logistics, infrastructure, investment and clean energy.
Port Kembla’s role as an important regional port provides scope for greater engagement in areas connected with maritime trade, supply chains and infrastructure. The discussions also reflected the potential for cooperation in clean energy and investment as the two countries continue to expand their economic partnership.
The visit formed part of High Commissioner Singh’s engagement with Australian stakeholders and institutions to explore opportunities for strengthening economic and strategic cooperation between Australia and India. It also underscored the importance of ports and maritime infrastructure in supporting trade and investment between the two countries.
