India’s Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development &
Entrepreneurship visited TAFE Queensland (QLD), reinforcing the growing partnership
between India and Australia in vocational education and training.
The Minister engaged in detailed discussions with Peter McKay, Director-General of the
Department of Trade, Employment and Training, and John Tucker, CEO of TAFE
Queensland. Talks focused on creating stronger collaboration in workforce development
and sharing expertise in industry-driven training.
At the Eagle Farm campus, the Minister toured advanced facilities and state-of-the-art
laboratories, receiving a briefing on TAFE’s innovative courses and hands-on training
methods. The visit showcased how Australia’s experience in vocational education can
complement India’s ambitious initiatives such as Skill India and Viksit Bharat 2047.
The engagement marks another important step in strengthening educational and skill
development bridges between the two nations, aimed at preparing a workforce ready for
global opportunities.
