A senior delegation from India’s Ministry of Steel, led by Secretary Sandeep Poundrik, recently visited Perth to engage with Australian government officials and key industry leaders, aiming to boost collaboration in the mining and resource sectors.
The delegation included Abhijit Narendra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel; Amitava Mukherjee, CMD of NMDC Ltd; Ajit Kumar Saxena, CMD of MOIL Ltd; and Manish Raj Gupta, Director (Technical), SAIL Ltd. A major highlight of the visit was a site review of NMDC’s Mount Celia Gold Project, which is being developed in partnership with Legacy Iron Ore Ltd, a subsidiary of NMDC.
Joining the Indian delegation were Naresh Kumar of ACG and Rakesh Gupta, CEO of Legacy Iron Ore Ltd, further underlining the India-Australia collaboration in mining exploration and development.
The visit reflects India’s strategic push to secure mineral assets abroad to support its expanding steel industry and infrastructure needs, while fostering stronger economic ties with Australia.
