In a move to strengthen cultural and sports ties, Consul General of India Dr Sushil Kumar participated in the India-Australia Sports Roundtable held at AFL House in Melbourne. The event was co-organised by the Australian Football League (AFL) and the Centre for Australia-India Relations (CAIR).
The roundtable featured key figures, including AFL CEO Andrew Dillon, CAIR Acting CEO Cal McGuirk, DFAT’s Sarah Storey, and Western Bulldogs CEO Ameet Bains, alongside delegates from government, sports, and business sectors.
Discussions focused on engaging the Indian diaspora to boost participation and interest in AFL and exploring avenues to introduce the sport to Indian audiences. The initiative aims to deepen people-to-people ties through sports, reflecting the growing partnership between India and Australia.
