The Indian Mission, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Associations of ACT Inc. (FINACT), took part in the National Multicultural Festival in Canberra, presenting a vibrant display of India’s cultural diversity and traditional craftsmanship.
As part of the celebrations, an information counter was set up featuring promotional material on Jharkhand’s handicrafts, including sarees, kurtas, handbags, jewellery, and Kashmir willow bats, offering visitors a glimpse into India’s rich artisanal heritage. The display brought together elements from several Indian states, reflecting the country’s varied cultural traditions within a multicultural Australian setting.
The Indian contingent also participated in the festival parade, with members dressed in traditional attire representing different regions of India. Marching together under the Indian flag, participants highlighted the spirit of unity in diversity, drawing enthusiastic responses from spectators along the route.
Music and rhythmic dhol beats added energy to the procession, contributing to the lively atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the annual multicultural celebration. Organisers and community representatives expressed appreciation to volunteers and participants whose efforts helped create a colourful and memorable showcase of Indian culture at the festival.
