Indian Consulate holds open house on consular services in Perth

Perth, March 6 (Indian Abroad Newsdesk)

The Consulate of India in Perth, in collaboration with the Indian Society of Western Australia (ISWA), organised an Open House session on Consular services at the Indian Community Centre in Willetton, bringing members of the Indian community together to discuss a range of consular issues and services.

The session was designed to provide an opportunity for members of the Indian diaspora in Western Australia to interact directly with officials from the Indian Consulate and seek clarifications on consular matters. Community members attended the event to raise questions, share concerns, and gain a better understanding of the procedures related to services such as passports, visas, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards, and other documentation.

Officials from the Consulate outlined the various consular services available to Indian nationals and persons of Indian origin residing in Western Australia. They also explained the procedures involved in applying for documents and highlighted recent improvements in the delivery of services.

Representatives of the Consulate emphasised the importance of maintaining close engagement with the Indian community and noted that such Open House sessions help ensure that community members remain informed about consular procedures and requirements. They also encouraged participants to use official channels and digital platforms for submitting applications and obtaining updated information.

Members of the Indian Society of Western Australia supported the initiative and assisted in organising the event at the Indian Community Centre. ISWA representatives said the session provided a valuable platform for community members to directly interact with consular officials and address practical concerns related to documentation and services.

During the interactive discussion, attendees raised questions on a variety of issues, including passport renewals, attestation services, OCI applications, and assistance available for Indian nationals in emergency situations. Consular officials responded to the queries and provided guidance on the steps required to resolve specific issues.

The Consulate noted that such outreach initiatives form an important part of its engagement with the Indian diaspora in Western Australia. By holding community sessions and information forums, the Consulate aims to improve awareness of consular services and strengthen communication with the Indian community.

The Open House concluded with an exchange of feedback from participants, who appreciated the opportunity to interact directly with consular officials and gain clarity on matters affecting Indian nationals and people of Indian origin in the region. Organisers expressed hope that similar sessions would continue to be held in the future to support the needs of the growing Indian community in Western Australia.
