The Consulate General of India in Sydney celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India with patriotic fervour at its premises on January 26, 2026, bringing together members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India from across the community.
Consul General Dr S. Janakiraman led the ceremony by unfurling the National Flag and reading out the Address to the Nation by the President of India. The event drew strong participation from community members representing diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
Adding a special commemorative element to the celebrations, attendees marked the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram” with a mass singing of the iconic patriotic song. Organisers said the tribute highlighted the enduring cultural significance of the composition while fostering a sense of unity and shared heritage among participants.
The programme concluded with interactions among guests, reflecting the spirit of pride and togetherness that characterised the Republic Day celebrations at the Consulate.
