The Consulate General of India in Sydney facilitated the visit of a large Indian Food and Agriculture delegation to Sydney from February 23 to 25, 2026, led by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO). The delegation comprised 28 food and agri companies from India seeking to expand their footprint in the Australian market.
The visit began with a Buyer-Seller Meet (BSM) held at Hilton Sydney on February 23, where Indian exporters showcased a diverse range of products to Australian importers, distributors and retail representatives. The event provided a platform for direct business interactions and discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral trade in the food and agriculture sector.
On February 24, the delegation undertook site visits to major retail and logistics facilities, including Woolworths operations in Gables and Bella Vista, gaining insights into Australia’s supply chain systems, quality standards and retail practices. This was followed by a visit to Harris Farm Markets’ facility in Drummoyne, where delegates explored opportunities for collaboration in fresh produce and specialty food segments.
The Sydney leg of the visit concluded on February 25 with a Business Conclave at Holiday Inn Parramatta, bringing together Western Sydney-based food and agri importers and distributors. The conclave provided an opportunity for structured discussions on market access, regulatory requirements and potential partnerships.
The three-day programme aimed to deepen commercial engagement between Indian exporters and Australian businesses, while strengthening trade linkages in the food and agriculture sector under the growing India–Australia economic partnership.
