Indian tricolour unites Melbourne on India’s 79th Independence Day

 

Melbourne, August 15 (Indian Abroad Newsdesk)

The Consulate General of India in Melbourne celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day with a morning steeped in pride, unity, and cultural vibrancy.

Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar hoisted the Indian tricolour, followed by the national anthem, as dignitaries, community leaders, and members of the Indian diaspora gathered to honour the milestone.

Among those present were Brad Battin MP, Cr Pradeep Tiwari, Mayor of Maribyrnong, and prominent members of Melbourne’s Indian community.

The ceremony featured moving renditions of patriotic songs, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening the India–Australia relationship. The Consulate expressed gratitude to all participants for celebrating India’s heritage and fostering enduring cross-cultural ties.
