The Indian Society of WA (ISWA) attended the launch of Season 3 of My Australian Story at The University of Western Australia (UWA), highlighting the role of storytelling and multicultural experiences in shaping Australia’s shared identity.
The launch brought together representatives from the university, government and community organisations to celebrate the diverse stories that contribute to Australia’s social and cultural fabric.
According to ISWA, Alec Coles, CEO of Western Australian Museum Boola Bardip, highlighted the meaning of “Boola Bardip” as “many stories” and noted the many and varied stories that form part of Western Australia’s collective heritage.
DFAT’s Pamela Currie reflected on Australia’s diversity and the contribution of people and stories from around the world. Pierre Yang MLC highlighted the importance of multiculturalism and ensuring diverse communities have a voice in decision-making.
ISWA also congratulated UWA and Maggie Ying Jiang, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor, Global Engagement, on Season 3 of My Australian Story.
The event highlighted storytelling as a way of bringing communities together and creating greater understanding of the experiences and contributions of people from different backgrounds.
