Megadonor Yass puts $30 million into pro-Ramaswamy super PAC

Washington, Oct 30 (IANS) Pennsylvania billionaire Jeff Yass and his wife Janine have put $30 million into a super Political Action Committee (PAC) backing Indian-American Republican Vivek Ramaswamy, making them by far the biggest funders of his Ohio Governor campaign’s outside allies, according to a Washington Post donor tracker.

The Yasses are the third-largest donors of the 2026 election cycle, with about $110 million in contributions, behind only Elon Musk and shipping magnates Elizabeth and Richard Uihlein, the tracker, based on Federal Election Commission (FEC) data as of October 23, shows.

Their single biggest recipient is V-PAC: Victors, Not Victims, which the Post lists as supporting Ramaswamy, with $30 million.

FEC filings processed so far show Jeff Yass giving V-PAC $20 million in three cheques: $10 million in March 2025 and $5 million each in January and March 2026.

All figures are rounded. FEC figures are self-reported by committees and can be amended.

V-PAC reported raising about $60 million and had about $12 million cash on hand as of September 30, according to its FEC totals. Yass’s money accounts for about a third of its receipts on the FEC’s count, or about half on the Post’s.

Other big V-PAC donors include investor Ross Stevens (about $6 million), software entrepreneur Ratmir Timashev ($5 million), Musk ($5 million) and hedge fund manager Bill Ackman ($1 million), FEC records show.

ITServe Alliance, an association of Indian-American-led IT services companies, has given V-PAC about $275,000.

Ramaswamy, the son of Indian immigrants and a former Republican presidential candidate, is running for Governor of Ohio in the November 3 election with Trump’s endorsement.

Beyond V-PAC, the Yasses gave about $18 million to School Freedom Fund, a school-choice super PAC, and about $17 million to Club for Growth Action, according to the Post.

FEC filings also show Jeff Yass gave $16 million to MAGA Inc., the main pro-Trump super PAC, and about $13 million to Protect Freedom PAC, which backs Senator Rand Paul.

Jeff Yass co-founded the Pennsylvania-based trading firm Susquehanna International Group. Janine Yass founded a Philadelphia charter school and is an advocate for school choice, according to the Post.

The Brennan Center for Justice counts Yass among the traditional finance donors whose share of top-40 giving has fallen to 15 per cent this cycle, as crypto and tech money rises.

The 50 biggest donors of the cycle have given about $2.8 billion, with Republican-leaning donors accounting for about $1.7 billion, the Post found.
