Melbourne Consulate hosts dance workshop celebrating India’s cultural heritage

Melbourne, September 17 (Indian Abroad Newsdesk)

The Consulate General of India in Melbourne, in partnership with the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC–ICCR in Australia) and Abhivyakti Fine Arts Academy, organised an engaging workshop on Indian dance forms, offering participants a glimpse into the country’s vibrant artistic traditions.

People of all ages joined the session, experiencing the beauty and diversity of dances such as Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Garba, Odissi, Rajasthani folk, and Bhangra. Children enjoyed a lively quiz competition, while seasoned instructors from Abhivyakti Fine Arts Academy introduced participants to graceful mudras and spirited footwork, capturing the essence of both classical and folk traditions.

The workshop not only highlighted the elegance and energy of Indian dance but also created a joyful atmosphere of learning, cultural exchange, and appreciation within Melbourne’s multicultural setting.
