The Melbourne Kannada Sangha has announced that the sixth edition of its much-anticipated annual Badminton Tournament will take place on August 10, 2025, at Badminton Connect, Noble Park. This sporting event promises to be a celebration of health, community bonding, and multicultural harmony.
With registrations open until July 25, 2025, the tournament invites badminton enthusiasts from all corners of Melbourne to participate, volunteer, or offer sponsorship support. Organisers describe the event as more than just a competition—it is a celebration of “community, sports, and spirit.”
In a recent Facebook post, the Melbourne Kannada Sangha expressed the tournament’s broader purpose: “We want to provide a platform for all badminton enthusiasts in our community in Melbourne to come forward and exhibit their talent and carry the legacy behind for the future generation. We want to make sure badminton as a sport is accessible to all our members and promote positive lifestyle.”
The 2025 edition will follow a Round Robin format, with each match consisting of a single set. Teams will earn one point for a win and zero for a loss, with the winning score difference recorded in the official score sheet. The matches will be officiated by designated umpires, whose calls will be final. Although the organisers aim to appoint line referees for all matches, including the semi-finals and finals, in the absence of a line referee, the umpire’s decision will stand.
Participants are advised to verify every point with the umpire before serving, ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the tournament.
The Melbourne Kannada Sangha Badminton Tournament continues to grow in reputation, attracting players across age groups and cultural backgrounds. It also strengthens the association’s mission of encouraging sportsmanship, healthy living, and multicultural engagement within Victoria’s diverse Indian diaspora.
For those looking to take part, contribute, or support the initiative, details and updates are available via the Melbourne Kannada Sangha’s official social media platforms.
