The 11th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with energy and enthusiasm at the iconic St Kilda Town Hall in Melbourne on June 21, 2025. This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” highlighted yoga’s global message of unity, balance, and wellness.
The event was hosted by the Consulate General of India in Melbourne and attended by several dignitaries, including Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar; Matt Fregon, Deputy Speaker of the Victorian Parliament; MPs Nina Taylor and David Southwick; former premier of Victoria Ted Baillieu; and Mayor Pradeep Tiwari of the Maribyrnong Council.
The celebration featured an invigorating yoga and meditation session conducted by The Art of Living Foundation, with active participation from community members and representatives of the consular corps. Adding a cultural touch to the event, students from Abhivyakti Dance Academy performed an elegant Artistic Yoga presentation, which was received with admiration and applause.
Speakers at the event emphasised the relevance of yoga in promoting physical health, mental peace, and sustainable living in today’s world. The event successfully brought together a diverse audience, reinforcing yoga’s universal appeal and its ability to foster community well-being.
