New Delhi, Aug 31 (IANS) New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Chairperson Manoj Kumar Dwivedi distributed gratuity, leave encashment, and pension payment orders to 47 employees retiring on Monday at the Convention Centre, Jai Singh Road, an official said.
He wished the retirees good health and inspired them to lead meaningful and active lives after superannuation.
Earlier, the NDMC shared information on the preparedness for hosting the BRICS Summit next month.
In a message on X, the NDMC said, “Guided by India’s BRICS Chairship theme — “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability” — and Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodiJi’s vision of a people-centric approach rooted in the spirit of “Humanity First,” the upcoming BRICS Summit will bring nations together to strengthen cooperation and address shared global priorities.”
“The NDMC is committed to making the capital a fitting host for this historic global gathering, with world-class civic services, cleanliness, green spaces, beautification, infrastructure and seamless public amenities,” said the civic agency on its official social media handle.
“With every detail being prepared with care and precision, NDMC is working to showcase a clean, green, vibrant and welcoming New Delhi to the world. Together, we look forward to making this global event a landmark moment for New Delhi and India,” said the NDMC.
As part of advancing the agenda of sustainable waste management and a greener New Delhi, the NDMC has also launched a special programme for the distribution of organic compost at Palika Kendra.
While launching the programme earlier, Dwivedi highlighted its ongoing efforts to convert biodegradable waste into a valuable resource.
The NDMC Chairman distributed Organic compost produced from wet and green waste among NDMC employees and the Horticulture Department for use in homes, colonies, parks and other green areas.
Three truckloads of organic compost were also flagged off for the Horticulture Department, reinforcing NDMC’s “Waste to Wealth” initiative.
Dwivedi said, “Today, NDMC is taking an important step towards promoting sustainable waste management by distributing organic compost produced from wet waste through aerobic composting among its employees. We will now take this initiative forward by extending it to Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), enabling residents to use this natural compost for their potted plants and home nurseries.”
“This initiative is also aligned with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister to build a ‘Zero Waste’ culture and progressively move towards ‘Zero Chemical Use’. Our endeavour is to promote organic practices, reduce dependence on chemical fertilisers and create greater awareness among citizens about the benefits of organic compost and sustainable horticulture,” he added.
