The newly appointed Councillor in the City Council of Gosnells, Cr Balli Singh called on Consul General Amarjeet Singh Takhi, recently, and shared his perspective for development of a cohesive diaspora community, and the difficulties faced by the new immigrants, including students from India. He has actively volunteered since the past 12 years to assist the community with many business related matters, bereavement, domestic violence, food relief for struggling families and individuals, elder abuse, bushfire relief and COVID19 relief.
He is only the second Indian-origin person on the Council of City of Gosnells, which hosts a significant number of Indian-Australian community, including several community and cultural associations and spiritual centres, including Sikh Gurudwara Canning Vale, and Perth Hindu Temple. Mayor Terresa Lynes, City of Gosnells has been a great supporter of the Indian-Australians and their community building initiatives.
