Sheikhpura, Aug 24 (IANS) The ‘PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana’ is bringing huge relief to households in Sheikhpura. Beneficiaries of the scheme are of the view that their dependence on conventional electricity has reduced, and their monthly power bills have also fallen sharply.
Under the scheme, the Central Government provides subsidies of up to Rs 78,000 for installing rooftop solar panels. Beneficiaries can receive the benefit of up to 300 units of free electricity every month, helping reduce the financial burden of electricity bills.
Kanchan Kumari, a beneficiary of the scheme, said that earlier her family used to be often worried about electricity expenses. Even while studying, her children sometimes had to use fans sparingly because of concerns over high electricity bills.
“After installing the solar panel, we no longer have to worry about electricity consumption,” she said. According to Kanchan, her household is now able to use fans and lights freely, while her electricity bill has come down to zero.
She urged other residents to take advantage of the PM Surya Ghar scheme, describing it as a beneficial government initiative that can provide substantial relief from rising electricity expenses. She also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the scheme.
District Magistrate Shekhar Anand said the district administration is extending assistance to people interested in installing rooftop solar panels. He said beneficiaries are being supported at every stage, including planning, loan-related assistance and coordination with the electricity department.
The DM appealed to residents of Sheikhpura to make maximum use of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and install solar panels on their rooftops.
Ashish Kumar and Usha Devi also thanked PM Modi for such a nice scheme that has rid them of unnecessary power bills every month. They shared with IANS how they are now dependent solely on the power generated from rooftop solar panels.
For many beneficiaries, the scheme is not only reducing electricity bills but also providing greater freedom to use essential household appliances such as fans, coolers and air conditioners without the constant worry of a high monthly power bill.
