Noida, June 15 (IANS) In a significant development, the Noida Police on Monday took into custody three wanted individuals accused of mentally harassing a young woman and ‘forcing’ her to commit suicide.
The police apprehended the accused near the service road in Noida Sector-57.
The arrested individuals were identified as Ayush Sharma, Saurabh Upadhyay, and Abhinav Upadhyay.
According to the police, the case was registered at Sector-58 police station. The victim’s father had lodged a complaint on June 10, stating that his daughter, employed at a private company, was blackmailed by some of her colleagues.
During her employment, she met a colleague, Ayush Sharma, who, along with his friends Saurabh and Abhinav Upadhyay, befriended the young woman and ensnared her in a trap.
According to the complaint, the accused threatened to edit her photographs and circulate them widely on social media and the internet.
As the woman was subjected to constant blackmail and mental torture, she fell into deep distress. The woman, driven by this mental turmoil, reportedly attempted suicide by jumping from a railway overbridge.
Alarmed at the gravity of the case, Noida Police registered an FIR and initiated an investigation. Based on the gathered evidence, the police arrested all three accused.
Ayush Sharma, one of the arrested individuals, is a native of Mahamadpur Jatan village in Hathras district and was currently residing in the Bishanpura area of Noida.
Saurabh Upadhyay and Abhinav Upadhya, two other natives of Hathras, were residing in the Morna area of Noida Sector-35.
Police officials said that a detailed investigation is underway, and further legal action will be taken based on any additional facts that may emerge during the probe.
