PERTH, June 9 / INDIAN ABROAD NEWSDESK

The Consul General, Kajari Biswas, joined community leaders and members at a Gala Dinner organised by the Perth Nepali Mandir and Community Centre and Pashupatinath Bouddhanath of Western Australia (PBWA Inc.), reaffirming the strong cultural and spiritual bonds that connect India and Nepal.

The event was held in support of the community’s vision to establish a Multicultural Hub and a Boudha and Hindu Temple in Perth, a project aimed at creating a vibrant centre for cultural, spiritual and community engagement.

Community representatives outlined plans for the proposed development, highlighting its potential to serve as a gathering place for people from diverse backgrounds while preserving and promoting the rich traditions of Hinduism and Buddhism.

Addressing attendees, the Consul General acknowledged the significant contribution of the Nepali community to Western Australia’s multicultural landscape and welcomed efforts to create institutions that foster cultural understanding and social cohesion.

The gala dinner brought together community members, supporters and stakeholders who expressed strong backing for the proposed project and its long-term benefits for future generations.

The occasion also highlighted the enduring civilisational links between India and Nepal, countries that share deep historical, cultural and spiritual connections rooted in Hindu and Buddhist traditions.

Organisers noted that these shared traditions continue to unite communities across borders and serve as a powerful foundation for friendship, mutual respect and cooperation.

The proposed Multicultural Hub and temple complex is expected to provide a space for worship, cultural activities, educational programmes and community services, further strengthening the multicultural fabric of Perth.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment from community leaders and supporters to advance the project and create a lasting legacy for the growing Nepali and broader South Asian communities in Western Australia.
