The Consulate of India in Perth commemorated the 77th Republic Day of India with a well-attended ceremony that brought together members of the Indian community and friends of India for a programme reflecting India’s constitutional values and cultural richness.
The celebrations began with the Consul General unfurling the Tiranga and reading the President of India’s address to the nation, reaffirming the ideals of justice, liberty, equality, fraternity, democracy, unity and the constitutional spirit. Ex-servicemen of the Indian Armed Forces were specially honoured by joining the Consul General during the unfurling of the National Flag.
The programme was enriched by the singing of the Indian National Anthem by community language students from the Western Australia Kannada Shaale. Sharvi, Ruta, Saadhan, Shaurya, Prashi, Suha and Adhya rendered the anthem with confidence and poise, drawing appreciation from those present.
Cultural performances formed a key part of the celebrations, including a rendition of the Rashtriya Geet Vande Mataram. The vocal performance by Usha, Sukhwinder, Dev and Ananthu was accompanied by instrumental music from Bharat Shenoy on the flute, Rhiddha on the keyboard, Manasa on the violin and Nishanth on the electric guitar. Sound and technical coordination for the programme was managed by Sundeep Kale of Shamira Entertainment.
Adding a creative dimension to the event, a self-composed poem on the Rashtriya Geet by Balika, Niheera, Yuvak and Trijal added further depth to the programme. The celebrations concluded with enthusiastic participation from community members and friends, reflecting a strong sense of togetherness and shared cultural identity.
