New Delhi, Aug 22 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s newly appointed national office-bearers at the party headquarters in New Delhi, describing organisational meetings as an opportunity for “new ideas and perspectives” aimed at strengthening the party and deepening its connect with the people.
Sharing photos of the meeting on social media platform X, PM Modi said: “Organisational meetings are all about new ideas and perspectives aimed at strengthening the Party and deepening connect with the people. Great interaction with fellow Party colleagues and the new organisational team!”
The Prime Minister was welcomed at the BJP headquarters by party President Nitin Nabin.
The Prime Minister also posed for a group photograph with the newly appointed office-bearers.
The meeting marked PM Modi’s first interaction with Nabin’s newly constituted national team since its announcement earlier this week.
The 65-member team includes 51 new faces, with several leaders from different states being assigned key organisational responsibilities.
The interaction came amid the BJP’s preparations for a series of organisational and public outreach initiatives, including a major focus on engaging with young people.
Earlier on Saturday, Nabin held a meeting with the new office-bearers and stressed the importance of “Yuva Samvad”, or sustained dialogue with the youth.
The party is preparing outreach programmes targeting people aged 14 years and above and is forming dedicated teams comprising senior leaders from different states.
The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has been tasked with assisting in the formation of these teams and coordinating their mobilisation.
Former national office-bearers are also expected to be assigned responsibilities in the campaign.
The BJP’s organisational preparations for upcoming Assembly elections were also discussed, with emphasis on strengthening the party’s grassroots network and improving organisational readiness.
Nabin is scheduled to chair another review meeting at the BJP headquarters extension on Sunday, bringing together State BJP Presidents, organisational general secretaries and State In-charges. The meeting is expected to review preparations for polls in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab, besides discussing upcoming party programmes and broader organisational issues.
PM Modi’s meeting with the new team also came shortly after the BJP passed a resolution on Saturday defending the historical legacy and honour of Vande Mataram.
The resolution criticised the Congress Working Committee’s decision to adhere to its 1937 resolution and restrict the singing of the National Song to its first two stanzas at party programmes.
The BJP said it would oppose attempts to subordinate Vande Mataram to “communal pressure, political appeasement, or narrow vote-bank considerations”.
The party also announced a nationwide campaign to raise awareness about the history and significance of Vande Mataram.
